Do you have a string of beads you don’t wear anymore or that needs to be repaired or an earring that’s long ago lost its mate? Or always wanted to make jewelry? In this class, you can turn those old treasures you can’t bear to part with into a new pair of earrings and bracelet or necklace or start from scratch and design and make a pair of earrings and bracelet or necklace. Either way, you’ll have new jewelry pieces that you’ll enjoy for many years to come!
Becky Sherrell has been making jewelry and glass beads since 2000 and never tires of the creative process. She’ll talk some about jewelry design and then get down to basics.
You’ll learn:
The difference between ear wires and headpins and gain confidence making a wrapped loop to make one pair of earrings.
Bead stringing for a necklace or bracelet and how to use crimp beads to attach a clasp.
How and when to use the basic jewelry-making tools: round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, flush cutter, and crimping tool.
Total Cost: $61 | Cost of Class: $45 + Supply Cost: $16

You can purchase the basic tools (round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, flush cutter, crimping tool, and bead mat) for $23.00 when you register for the class or you can bring your own tools.
Supplies to be Provided:
The class will use sterling silver findings (ear wires, headpins, clasp, and crimp beads) for one pair of earrings and one necklace or bracelet for a total of $16.00.
Additional supplies can be purchased during class to make an additional pair of earrings ($4.00) or bracelet or necklace ($12.00 for either one).
Supplies for Students to bring:
Each student will need to supply their own beads either from home or purchased or some combination of the two. Hobby Lobby is a good bead source for beginning jewelry makers.
Hobby Lobby’s bead strands are 7” long. If making a necklace (20″ long) and pair of earrings, purchase at least three bead strands. Becky’s design rule of thumb is the more beads the better! Get creative and pick 2 to 3 different bead strands. And if a longer necklace is desired, more bead strands are required.
