The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn have been putting on Coffee Houses for a couple of months now, so they are branching out. The two organizations are working together to now put on a Cocoa House.
What’s a Cocoa House?
A Cocoa House is just like a Coffee House in that the public is invited (and encouraged) to come out and see some young talent. Refreshments will be available, donations accepted and a great night is to be had. But instead of high school-25 year olds, it’s the younger ones. The Cocoa House is a space for fifth to eighth graders to come and share their talents.
Performers are invited to bring any sort of talent. Whether its playing an instrument, sharing a monologue, singing or stand up comedy, The Plaza and The Arts Barn invite you to come and perform.
If you are interested in performing, send a short preview video to info@theartsbarn.net and fill out the ‘questions for coffee house’ form on The Arts Barn website. Performers will be contacted by May 11 as to whether or not your act was chosen for the first Cocoa House.
The first Cocoa House will take place May 17 in The Plaza’s Reception Hall. Admission is free to the public and refreshments will be for sale. Participation in any Coffee or Cocoa House counts as service hours.
