Jason Hasty

Did you know that the University of Georgia was founded in 1785…237 years ago? Have you ever wondered how a university that old and distinguished has managed to preserve its history all these years? If ‘yes’ to the second question, then you need to hear Jason Hasty talk about his work as an archivist at the UGA Hargrett Library in Athens, GA. Although Jason’s focus is primarily sports, he will share stories that relate to the preservation of all memorabilia, artifacts, documents, and lasting treasures that are being saved for generations to come. If you love history and/or the University of Georgia, this is for you!

Jason, officially known as the UGA Athletics History Specialist for the Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library, is a man of many talents. He manages the Athletic Association archive, assists researchers working with Athletics materials, uses Athletics materials in the classroom with graduate and undergraduate students, and designs museum exhibits and community events using UGA Athletics artifacts. Jason is a graduate of the University of Georgia and has worked with the UGA Libraries for 15 years.
