Join the Sparta-Hancock County Library on Thursday, July 7th from 6-7pm for an evening of great storytelling. Dressed in period clothing, Will Minter, the quintessential storyteller, will bring to life the extraordinary history of the Pullman Train Porters. The news these porters brought back from New York and Chicago led to the great migration of black families, which prioritized education and birthed the black middle class, professional class, and first all-black labor union. This created a future for outstanding balck leaders such as Thurgood Marshall, Willie Brown, Mayor Tom Bradley, Ethel L. Payne and Oscar Peterson. Don't miss this historical and engaging program!
