Lockerly Arboretum is very excited to announce that they will be participating in the Walktober movement this year! Lockerly will open until 7:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays in October to make it more convenient for you to come enjoy a walk, jog, run, stroll or jaunt.

What is Walktober?

Walktober is a fun and motivating activity that encourages individuals of all fitness levels to get moving. Whether you prefer leisurely strolls or brisk power walks, this movement is designed for everyone.

Who is doing this?

Communities, organizations, families, and individuals across the country – think of it as a national, month-long walking community event!

Why Lockerly?

October is the perfect month to enjoy Lockerly! Leaves are changing and temperatures are cooler, making Lockerly an ideal place to spend some time outside. With our newly paved road, we have a solid one mile path for your to enjoy safely and securely.

Why walking?

Walking is one of the most effective exercises for overall health and well-being. Among its many health benefits, walking can improve heart and lung health, bolster immune system function, and reduce risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Walking can be appropriate for individuals of all abilities and requires little to no equipment.
