Young Scientists Academy (YSA) Program through Georgia College’s Science Education Center provides students an opportunity to explore the many facets of university-level research.

What is Young Scientists Academy? In this six-week YSA program, academically motivated rising seniors conduct research under the guidance of a Georgia College faculty member and undergraduate mentors. YSA Internship students tackle an individual research project and acquire valuable technical and analytical skills, culminating in data analysis and a YSA poster symposium. In some cases, YSA interns submit their work to national science conferences like the American Chemical Society’s National Conference.

Throughout the six weeks of the program, students participate in weekly workshops with the YSA Director who provides insight into the scientific process, research ethics, how to read a research paper, how to make a poster, and how to network in the science and engineering fields. There are also sessions on college admission strategies and programs.

Georgia College’s Science Education Center invites students to apply for the YSA Program to conduct scientific research during summer at the Georgia College's Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy. Georgia College's YSA Program is graciously funded in part through the Middle Georgia local Section of the American Chemical Society and the Franklin Foundation Grant!

June 13 - July 22, 2022 (we meet Monday-Thursday and some Fridays) - Pre-requisite is High school Chemistry

Stipend Range is $500 - $2,500

The application process will begin on March 1st and the deadline is April 30th!  (Decisions announced before May 15th.)
